Association
History
A group of motivated collaborators brought together by choreographer Tonia Schilling is active since 1999. The association filed the official statutes in 2004 under the association name dansecréations. Its prime objective is to promote and produce creations and projects in afro-contemporary dancing. Following the opening of a dance centre for classes and choreographic creations in 2007, the Espace Danse, the activities of the association exploded. Annual productions of the Fodac company and the Juilletdanse festival added to the regular professional creations of the Tonia Schilling Company. The classroom transformable in mini theatres of 60 sittings proposed intimate shows and the juilletdanse festival earned its international reputation in a few years. By providing a venue, the centre has become the driver and main sponsor of the association’s activities. A real-estate project on the same site put an end to the centre earlier than expected. Nevertheless, the team hasn’t stopped the work and after two additional festival’s editions, they concentrated their efforts on providing support to the creations of the TONIA SCHILLING COMPANY and promoting its performances in Switzerland and abroad.
